What is Sky Lagoon?

Sky Lagoon is a premier oceanfront geothermal spa located in Kópavogur, Iceland, just minutes from downtown Reykjavík. It is famous for its 70-meter infinity edge, offering panoramic North Atlantic views, and its signature seven-step "Sky Ritual" based on traditional Icelandic bathing culture. The ritual includes hot soaking, cold plunge, steam, scrub, and relaxation for a fully rejuvenating reset.

How long is this activity?

We expect the full experience to take up to 3 hours, including approximately 2 hours of soak time and 15-minute transfers each way.

A wristband that serves as your locker key and can be used for any additional on-site purchases (charged to your personal card at the end of your visit)
One journey through the Skjól Ritual including Mýkt Scrub and Saft Elixir
Unlimited access to lagoon and cold plunge
Changing facilities
Private shower cubicles with signature Shampoo and Conditioner
Shared vanity area and blow dryer
Towel

What do I bring?

A bathing suit is required. You should also bring:

A reusable water bottle (staying hydrated is important while enjoying the warm water)
A personal credit/debit card for any purchases (Upon entry, you’ll be given a wristband that works as your credit card so you can make purchases with in the cafe or gift shop. At departure, you’ll need to settle those charges with your personal card. Sky Lagoon also accepts cash, only in ISK.)

Flip-flops and lotion are helpful, but optional. Towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided.

What are the changing facilities like?

We will have access to standard (Saman) changing facilities, which include separate gendered changing areas with shared locker spaces.

You may change in the main locker area but if you prefer additional privacy, you are welcome to bring your clothes into a private bathroom stall or shower cubicle to change.
Private shower cubicles are available for all guests.

If you would feel more comfortable in a gender-neutral space, please let the Sky Lagoon team know at check-in.

Are there any health considerations?

If you have any underlying health conditions (such as cardiovascular disease, high or low blood pressure, epilepsy, or other medical concerns), please consult your physician ASAP in case you’re unable to participate. If you require extra care or consideration during your visit, Sky Lagoon offers high-visibility wristbands at reception.

What is the Skjól Ritual?

The Skjól Ritual structured wellness journey inspired by Icelandic bathing culture, blending warm and cold elements, steam, exfoliation, and a refreshing drink at the end. “Skjól” means shelter/protection in Icelandic. The ritual takes about 90 minutes to complete.
