What to Bring to Iceland
Key Reminders
Make sure you have your passport and any other required travel documents for your country. For entry into Iceland, your passport must meet airline requirements and should be valid for at least 3 months after the trip. If you’re traveling with a non-U.S./non-EU passport, please double-check entry requirements for Iceland based on your passport.
Pro tip: Take pictures of your passport ID page + barcode and save a digital copy to your phone/email.
As always, bring your work laptop (don’t forget your privacy screen!) & charger.
Bring your company-issued Ramp card. Pro tip: add it to your digital wallet and your rideshare accounts for transport to/from your home airports. (We’ll handle transportation in Iceland!).
Dressing for the Outdoors 🧥 🥾
Iceland winters are cold, with average daytime temperatures around 0°C (32°F) and the coldest days dropping to -10°C (14°F), along with snowfall and strong winds that often make it feel colder than it is. February has limited daylight, and while we’re there, sunrise will be just before 9AM and sunsets around 6:30PM.
Other than Golden Circle Day & the (optional) Northern Lights excursion, we’ll spend most of our time indoors for meetings, but you can expect to be outside briefly for walks between hotels, getting to/from shuttles to dinners & events, etc. To stay warm & safe outdoors, please pack:
Waterproof hiking shoes or boots with good traction / anti-slip soles
Slippery sidewalks and paths are common, so shoes with traction are key. Sneakers, canvas shoes, and smooth-soled boots are not recommended for outdoors.
Warm, insulated coat (waterproof & windproof recommended)
Hat, scarf, gloves
Layers (thermal base layer, sweater/fleece, outer layer)
Avoid cotton for base layers. Wool or synthetic keeps you warmer and dries faster.
Comfortable pants suitable for cold weather
Wool socks
Daily Essentials 🎒 👔
We'll be in meetings and working sessions most days, so pack casual work-appropriate clothing for the daytime. Layers are helpful since you’ll be moving between warm indoor spaces and colder outdoor walks. For evening events, there’s no formal dress code, so wear what makes you comfortable. Aside from what you’ll wear each day, here are a few essentials to pack:
Reusable water bottle
Sunglasses
Phone chargers, laptop charger
Power adapter (Iceland uses Type F, 230V)
Any medications you may need, including OTC or prescription items
Sunscreen, lip balm, moisturizer (cold wind is drying)
Nice-to-Haves 🔋 🩱
Swimsuit
Portable charger (phones lose battery quickly in the cold)
